CrossFit - Olympic Lifting
Joe has always been inspired to lead and help others achieve their goals. He was a competitive swimmer from the age of 6 through high school and has always been interested in fitness and developing skills. Joe was in an off-road motorcycle accident in 2001 that left him with life altering spinal damage. For the years that followed, he was a bit lost as his fitness was quite hard to maintain. By 2012, Joe’s back condition had deteriorated to the point he could barely walk for more than a few steps and had constant nerve pain. Back surgery was no longer avoidable. It was his back surgeon that suggested CrossFit as a way of regaining control of his posterior chain. This was in stark contrast to all the advice he had gotten in the past. Joe began CrossFit shortly after recovery. That suggestion changed his life! He continued to develop himself as an athlete again and was feeling more alive all the time! He began to coach a fitness class in his garage and quickly outgrew the space. That’s when he partnered with Eric in the labor of love that is Hammer CrossFit! He knows first hand what a challenge it can be to maintain fitness with injury and this has become a passion to create a place where literally anyone can be as they are meant to.
